Intimacy with GodBe-Still-and-Know-Mountains

One of the greatest hinderances to prayer in the 21st Century is our busy-ness. The age of microwaves, cell phones, and laptops has made the world smaller, faster, and quicker. Attention spans are shorter. We want our information in seconds and sound bites.

But intimacy with God cannot be schedule by appointments and 2-minute increments. Intimacy with His Holiness requires the blotting out of everything and everyone who is more important than God. That includes us.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Ps 46:10

Intimacy with God requires the setting aside of all preoccupation and predicament. Prayer cannot be learned on the go. That is not what ‘Pray without ceasing,” is about. Deep prayer requires privacy and stillness before Him.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matt 6:6

Even Jesus needed time alone with His Heavenly Father.

23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. Matt 14:23
